Why change system brightness?

I like the brightness change in previous version where only this app is affected when you vertically swipe.

Now it changes the brightness of the entire phone. This is a very silly idea. Wanting to read book with dimmed brightness doesnt mean I want to dim the entire phone.

How to restore old brightness settings?

Otherwise a great app!
